As most of you know.. I had to move this summer! The campus decided to convert my former building into a "double occupancy/Freshman" building... and I don't qualify as a Freshman, and I wasn't about to share a 300 square foot studio with someone else!
So, I moved. Because we were told we had to move, we were given preference at any other building on campus. I chose the building closest to the institute, the grocery store, and the streetcar lines. It's a beautiful building... built in 1927. I'm in a 575 square foot 1 bedroom with separate kitchen, bathroom, dining room, bedroom and 3 (yes, 3) closets!!!! I absolutely love it! I have hardwood in the living room, hallway and bedroom. I got on craigslist and bought a wonderful sage green sofa with matching overstuffed chair and large ottoman!!!!! I'm hoping to bring my stuff out of storage as soon as I can to eliminate that cost and make my stuff more accessible. I realized that I don't relaly need a dining room (although it would be a nice element), so I've converted my dining room into my office. It makes so much more sense and looks pretty good too! I'm on the first floor corner room of this building, and I said I wanted to be closer to the institute.... well, that's the view outside my bedroom, living room, and kitchen... I think I succeeded. The grocery store is behind the institute, the "quick mart" is the other direction across the street.. and the street cars run on both sides of my apartment! I'm also only 1 block from the acclaimed "Portland Park Blocks". The "blocks" is a city owned park (grass, trees, benches, statues, etc) that is a block wide and about 15 blocks long. Along the "blocks" is lots of cafe's, spas, little shops, startbucks, etc. The Central public library, Art Museum and Oregon Historical museum are only 5 blocks down the street. Let's just say.. I couldn't have hand picked a better spot. It's also a much more mature group of people, so it's less noisy, inside and out!
This is a picture of the building... and once I've gotten it all decorated cute, I'll post some pictures!!!
